This hilarious spoof in the best of Agatha Christie traditions is set in a country manor house in the 1930’s with an assembled cast of characters guaranteed to delight – Bunting the butler; and English Colonel with the prerequisite stiff upper lip; a shady French art dealer and his moo; the bumbling police inspector and a well-meaning local sleuth who seems to attract murder wherever she goes – they’re all here, and caught up in the side-splitting antics which follow the mysterious death of the house’s owner.  It soon becomes clear that the murderer isn’t finished yet, but will the murderer be unmasked before everyone else has met their doom?

The action of the play takes place in the lounge of a country manor house in the 1930’s

The story of The Ladykillers came to screen writer William Rose in a dream.  Four criminals planning a robbery, hold up in an old lady’s house.  Rose woke his wife, Tania, gabbled the story to her – and immediately fell asleep again.  She, thankfully for him and all of us, flew from their bed and typed the whole thing out before it had a chance to go cold.  The next morning, she told the story to her husband and he listened amazed, as if hearing it for the first time.

Graham Linehan adapted this screen play for the theatre in 2011.

Cast:  Gloria Webby (Mrs Wilberforce);  John Butler (Professor Marcus); Tyler McGlone (Louis Harvey); Kevin Koch (One-Round); Peter Whittaker (Major Courtney); Bryan Vickery (Harry Robinson); Peter Haines (Constable MacDonald);  Michelle Chainey (Mrs Tromleyton)  And of Course;  “General Gordon”  The Parrot  (Have a cup of tea)
