This is a Shaffer masterpiece – splendidly theatrical and extraordinary in its perceptions.  Its humour is subtle, its language commanding and its plot a highly original and thoroughly entertaining experience.

It is the story of Lettice and Lotte.  Two women whose lives collide in a most unconventional manner.  Lettice (Selina Mackie) is an innovative tour guide whose passion is to celebrate the richness and pageantry of the past (even if she has to invent the odd detail!).  Lotte (Juliet McLean) represents officialdom and a more rigid approach to historical and perhaps, life in general.  The blending of their worlds is a story we which can onlyl “Enlarge, Enliven and Enlighten!”
