Why Me?

As received from Dorne Arthur in 1981 – “It has been my pleasure to have been associated with the Inglewood Dramatic Society over a number of years, and I am honoured to have been invited to produce for it on a number of occasions.

During the past decade I have seen the society go from strength to strength, giving to you, the public of Inglewood, plays of different moods and periods, and always of a high standard.  The dedication and friendliness of all with whom I have worked I value greatly.

The building itself provides the town with a valuable amenity, and those responsible for the remodeling of this fascinating old building are to be congratulated.  Its atmosphere has been retained, yet an intimate theatre, which must surely be the envy of many a larger group, has been created.  I would like to wish the society every good fortune.  May the next 25 years see it grow and flourish, and may all future productions be right on “Cue”.   Dorne Arthur

Dorne Arthur passed away in 2000 – “For many people and for a long time, theatre in New Plymouth was Dorne.  She will always have a special place in the history of the Inglewood Dramatic Society.  Many members of our Society came under her direction as cast members in productions at Repertory, Little Theatre and Operatic.  When not directly involved with Cue, Dorne could be relied on for invaluable and helpful advice and encouragement; her opinion on our productions was always keenly awaited.” – Extract from Cuein’ You Newsletter November 2000.
